Class Definitions and Eligibilty

RITS SWEET & SOUR

This is designed to provide an inexpensive class in which to school, if necessary, or to put a run on an inexperienced horse.
Eligibility:
  1. Any Rider
  2. Any Horse
  3. Any Legal Equipment
  4. Run a full pattern, one handed, two handed, or both      
  5. Non-NRHA Judge
  6. Fun prizes perhaps

RITS GREEN AS GRASS
A Non Pro rider, who has never shown in any reining competitions other than Saddle Club or Green As Grass Youth competitions, may compete in the class for the period of 2 years.  The rider may use one or two hands and must complete the pattern as started.

RITS GREEN AS GRASS YOUTH
Limited to any Youth rider, 18 years of age or younger as of January 1st, who has never shown in any reining competitions other than Saddle Club competitions, may compete in this class for a period of 2 years.  The rider may use one or two hands and must complete the pattern as started.   Contestants in this class do not have to own the horse they ride.  Regular Green As Grass patterns apply.  No stallions, regardless of age, will be permitted in this class.

RITS 39 AND OVER NON PRO
Limited to anyone over the age of 39 who is a Non Pro rider.

RITS NEVER WON A BUCKLE
Limited to any rider who has never won a buckle.

RITS GREEN REINER
This class is for riders who are new to reining.  Green Reiners will have not earned more than $200.00 in any type of Reining competition in the last 5 (five) years.  No memberships are required.  Riders may use any horse in Green Reiner classes.
Rules during showing:

  1. Horse may be ridden with one or two hands, providing the rider remains consistent throughout the run with his or her initial choice.
  2. Horse may be ridden in any NRHA-approved bit.
  3. All other NRHA rules apply.

RITS GREEN HORSE
Horses with no NRHA or Reining Club/Assn earnings or breed points (i.e., AQHA) prior to the current year. 

  1. Any rider may exhibit. 
  2. No membership requirements.
  3. Horse may be ridden in any NRHA-approved bit.
  4. May be ridden one or two hands and must complete the pattern as started. 
  5. All NRHA patterns will be used.
  6. Competition license not required.
RITS Payout Schedule
All RITS classes, except Open Bridle Cowhorse, 3 Year Old Stakes Classes, and RITS Derby Rookie Professional Trainer will have a set payout of $50/$30/$20 in every class.    In classes that have more than 20 entries, payouts will consist of a $215 purse, and payouts will be to 5th place - $75/$50/$40/$30/$20
